“LIFESTYLES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS, they’re always complaining, always complaining.” ~ Good Charlotte – Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

Standard

Songwriters will write about so many different events, changes and people they love through their music.

Loved ones are often written about in lyrics, whether it be subtly or actually naming the person who they have based a song on.

But sometimes the loved ones of songwriters are famous people. Whether it be in a love song, in memory or just in pure admiration for the star; there has been a rise in songs being dedicated to specific celebrities.

“and you can tell everybody THIS IS YOUR SONG, it may be quite simple but now that it’s done, i hope you don’t mind that i put down in words, how wonderful life is now you’re in the world.” ~ Elton John – Your Song

I have said previously that being called an inspiration is one of the biggest honours for anyone. But what about when you find that a song has been written in your honour?

A lot of people will never experience having a song written about them and know it. Recently, I have written songs for my closest friends for their birthdays but only if it is a special one e.g. 21st. It is a way of showing them how much they mean to me through my music.

My closest friends know how much my songwriting means to me and I know that they will treasure the songs more than other people.

Recently, it was one of my closest friend’s 21st birthday and I knew that I just had to write a song for her. I have a very varied music taste from pop/punk bands such as Save Your Breath to listening to rappers including Eminem and Professor Green.

My main musical influences come from my family. Being a middle child, with an older brother and two younger brothers, and part of a music-loving family, there was always some sort of music playing in the background. When I look back at family photos, I can remember the soundtracks to my life or the songs that were played by family at the time.

David, Me and Chris aged around 8, 6 and 4.

I thought I would create this first post to tell you a little bit more about myself than my “About” page on here.

I have had a love of music for as long as I can remember. As a kid, it always helped me with expressing my emotions and made me feel less alone with situations that I have been going through during my life.

My ideas wall where I post lyrics that haven't formed full songs yet

I can remember from about the age of 8, I would come up with new lyrics to my favourite songs at the time, and perform them to whoever would listen, whether it be my grandma or my loyal teddy bears.
